Here is this week's news:
Good afternoon all! I hope you have all had a lovely week despite it being scorching hot again! The children have been amazing coping with the hot weather.
I hope that you all received your children's reports via email today. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 4 also have a separate envelope in their bags to bring home.
On Tuesday, we had our Leavers Play performances - what a great show! Well done to everybody involved. I know a lot of hard work and effort went into it. Thank you for being such a wonderful audience too.
This weekend, on Sunday, it is our Colour Run at 3pm at TRAC - we are really looking forward to this! Please try not to soak the staff too much!.....
On Wednesday it is the Summer and Leavers' Discos in the school hall - if you've not already done so, please send in your children's booking forms as soon as possible.
Don't forget its 'Break the rules' day on Thursday! See flyers below.
Finally, please can I remind everybody about Parentpay dinners accounts for Years 3-6. These MUST be cleared now please. Please make sure there is enough money in there for this week's lunches. If your child's account is overdrawn this week we may not be able to provide a school dinner and may need to telephone to ask you to bring them a packed lunch.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Gladstone

HEDGEHOGS and OWLS classes: We have decided NOT to allow pencil cases in class next year. We know that this is controversial for the children and that some children may be disappointed but...unfortunately they are a continuous source of distraction during lessons. Many children also like to lay out a huge array of expensive stationery on their tables each day leaving very limited working space amongst other issues. Thank you for your support with this.
We have a vacancy for a keen enthusiastic person to work in our After School Club, generally after school between 3:15 and 5:15pm from September for a couple of afternoons although there could be more sessions available if required. Training will be given. If you are interested in this opportunity, or would like to come along to an after school club session to see the job in action, please see Miss Gladstone or Mrs Bowen or email head@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk or admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk.
End of year reports were sent today by email. We are more than happy to print out a paper copy for you if you do not have a printer at home so please let me know if you wish yours to be printed and this will be done next week. Many thanks.
If you have a school leaver with any good condition PE kit that you no longer need, we would love to use this! We will have a collection box on the playground on the last day of term for any donations. PE tops, tracksuits, trainers etc all welcomed. Many thanks.
Mrs Leggett.
Back by popular demand, on Thursday 17th July, we are holding "Break the rules" day again! Please see the list of rules below that you are allowed to break, in return for the suggested donations! Children (and staff) loved this last year and we hope they will again!
Apply online for free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school will still have to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
