Here is this week's news:
Welcome to our new Reception families for 2026 - they are receiving this newsletter for the first time! Welcome to you all!
Mrs Bourton held a SATS information evening last night for all year 6 families. Thank you to everyone who came to this important evening - I'm sure that you all found it helpful.
Next week there is a meeting for Y3 and Y4 Parents at 6pm in school regarding the Macaroni Wood residential this summer. Mrs Leggett will have been in touch with all concerned over the last few months regarding this.
Please see below regarding the upcoming PTFA fundraising event and an update on what the money raised will go towards.
Save the date - Saturday 23rd May:
You may have seen on the local Facebook page for Twyning that the wonderful Kintsugi Lion, which was painted by our local artist Sam Morris, is returning to the village. The lion sculpture is going to be situated outside the school building which is very exciting!!
Kind regards,
Miss Gladstone

From September 2026 we will have a vacancy for a parent governor. If you are interested in filling this important role, please see Miss Gladstone. Many thanks.
Yesterday, we took part in our local tag rugby festival at Tewkesbury Rugby Club. We played a round robin of 6 matches winning all of them. An outstanding performance by all! As with all primary tag rugby, there was no results table and no overall winners. Emphasis was put on the School Games values of determination, passion, honesty, self belief, respect and teamwork. Twyning was awarded the value of teamwork. Well done to Livvy, Leo N-S, Leo H, Keira N, William, Florence, Henry R, Jack, Zane and Theo. The surprise icing on the cake was the hotdog/burger tent provided and manned by Tewkesbury rugby club, feeding around 80 children and staff with free food at the end. Such a kind gesture!
Please see the poster for details of this fun PTFA event... We are already planning our crazy hairstyles!
The PTFA are fundraising to replace the wooden pirate ship up on the school field. This has been in situ for a good 15-20 years and is now sadly rotting away. We have therefore had to close it to children and it will be removed shortly.
We are very grateful to our PTFA for organising fundraising and to all of you for helping to reach our target amount.
You will soon see a fundraising chart in the Library window so that you can see our progress.
The pirate ship is a piece of play equipment that so many children have enjoyed over the years and our plans are to replace it with something similar with the same longevity...
Please remember to top up your child's ParentPay account to cover their school dinners. Your account should be in credit at all times. Many thanks.

Apply online for pupil premium and free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school, will still need to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
I just wanted to remind parents about the most effective ways to make contact with your child's teacher should you need to. You can also advise us if your child is off school sick/unwell on the School Spider app. This is also in the communications section of the website. This document also lists all of the emails for the teachers. We kindly ask that you do not use the private messaging system on Dojo but instead use email please. Many thanks for your support as always. spaces.schoolspider.co.uk/uploads/605/page/40075479_page_file.pdf
