Here is this week's news:
We have had a busy but productive first week back at school!
This week, children should all have come home with Christmas Dinner letters, and have also been given any Christmas orders you have made from our PTFA Class Fundraising initiative. Please have a look in book bags and send any forms back as soon as possible. Many thanks.
Please can I remind parents to pay their £60 deposits for the Y5/6 residential by Monday 17th November? Children should have brought home letters from Mrs Leggett before half term. Many thanks.
On Thursday evening, we will be holding our Reception 2026 Open Evening at 6:30pm in the School Hall. If you know anybody who is looking for a reception place for their child for September 2026, please let them know about this event and send them along. There is no need to book.
On Friday it is Children in Need day - please see below for further details. Thank you to our School Council for organising this.
Finally, if anyone still needs to book a parents evening appointment or you are having difficulties with the Spider app please ring or email Mrs Bowen in the office or pop in.

On Friday we will be collecting for Children in Need. There will be a bucket on the door for any cash you wish to donate. The School Council and Health Committee (those who do NOT go to Netball club) will lead a cake sale after school on the Friday, so if you are able to, please bring any cakes/bakes in on Friday morning. Many thanks for your help!
The theme this year is 'SPOTacular' so children may wear yellow or spotty items to school if they wish!
Henry and Poppy A-T are taking on a 5-mile bike ride in the Forest of Dean to raise funds for Children in Need. They’re also going to be selling colorful Pudsey keyrings to support this cause. Every little bit helps, so please consider donating or sharing their campaign to make a difference for children in need. Thank you!
Yesterday, we took part in the English Schools' Football Association district tournament at Tewkesbury Academy. Five schools were in the small schools' category and of our four matches, we won one convincingly (2-0) against Ashchurch, drew against Mitton and Queen Maragaret and just lost to Tirlebrook. Overall we came second and were proud receivers of silver medals. Our team played magnificently, supporting and encouraging each other. Well done to Oliver, William R, Jack, Leo N-S, Bertie, Theo, Zane, Isla, Jesse and Joe.
We have been made aware that our uniform supplier, Gooch Clothing, are no longer able to source the navy blue school cardigan. Until we can find an alternative, we are happy for you to buy any school-style navy cardigan, getting it personalised yourself if you so wish, or leaving it plain.
PE KIT: We have noticed that some children are coming in more varied items e.g. black and/or boldly branded items for PE. Please note that the PE t-shirt should be the school logo blue shirt. The school tracksuit is perfect for cold weather. Otherwise, shorts/skort/cycling shorts/joggers should be navy and unbranded. Children may wear their school jumper or cardigan instead of the tracksuit top when cold.
Parents Evenings are being held on 17th, 19th and 20th November. If you still need to book your appointment and can not access School Spider, please ring or email Mrs Bowen and she can book you in.
Please remember to top up your child's ParentPay account to cover their school dinners. Your account should be in credit at all times so please make sure there is enough in there to cover the next few weeks. Many thanks.

Apply online for pupil premium and free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school, will still need to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
Below is the updated guidance on food safety in the EYFS. Food safety advice for children age 5 and under...
How to reduce the risk of choking Children can choke on any food.
To minimise the risk of choking:
remove any stones and pips from fruit before serving
cut small round foods (like grapes, strawberries and cherry tomatoes) lengthways and into quarters
cut large fruits (like melon) and hard fruit or vegetables (like raw apple and carrot) into slices instead of small chunks
cut sausages into thin strips rather than chunks and remove the skins (sausages should be avoided due to their high salt content)
do not give whole nuts to children under five years old
do not give whole seeds to children under five years old
cut cheese into strips rather than chunks
do not give children popcorn as a snack
do not give children marshmallows or jelly cubes from a packet, either to eat or as part of messy play activities, as they can get stuck in the throat
do not give children hard sweets
We are following this guidance in school and ask that you consider this guidance when sending in a snacks and packed lunches for your child.
We are more than happy to chop up fruit and vegetables at the beginning of playtime and at lunchtime if necessary, and sausages will be served in strips while your child is in Reception. We appreciate that some of these rules may differ from how your child is served food at home so we hope you can adjust their snack or lunch orders to ensure they are happy with their option and are prepared for this.
Many thanks.
Miss Taylor
I just wanted to remind parents about the most effective ways to make contact with your child's teacher should you need to. You can also advise us if your child is off school sick/unwell on the School Spider app. This is also in the communications section of the website. This document also lists all of the emails for the teachers. We kindly ask that you do not use the private messaging system on Dojo but instead use email please. Many thanks for your support as always. spaces.schoolspider.co.uk/uploads/605/page/40075479_page_file.pdf
