Here is this week's news:
We are really looking forward to our Christmas Fair tomorrow! Please come along from 12 O'Clock. There will be food available, Santa's grotto (hopefully you've all booked your tickets for this), raffle, chocolate and bottle tombolas, and lots of lovely craft and other trade stands up in the hall where you could maybe do some Christmas shopping! The secret wrapping room (no parents allowed!) is always an exciting place to be!
Raffle tickets have been on sale this week - there are a number of prizes to be won in our Christmas Raffle, including breakfast vouchers, tutoring vouchers, a car care kit, beauty items and mini hampers. Tickets are £1 each and will still be on sale during our Christmas Fair.
Also, a big thank you to everyone who bought poppies and other items from our Royal British Legion box, I have just been advised that the school collection raised £118.95! Thank you all!
On Wednesday, our Foxes and Squirrels children performed in a mini-concert with their violins, recorder and samba drums to parents and families in the hall. It was a wonderful concert and I was so impressed with the quality and professionalism of the performance - well done to all!
Miss Gladstone.

Regarding next week's nativity performances, can we please ask that a maximum of two adults per family attend each performance? We do not wish to overcrowd the hall as we cannot guarantee the weather and do not want people standing outside in the cold, wind and rain (or even snow)! If you can avoid attending both performances, it would be much appreciated. Many thanks.
Please can I remind parents not to allow children to play tag games on the playground in the mornings so that we can avoid any accidents before school. The playground is a busy place in the mornings and if we can keep it as calm as possible that will help the children to have a smooth transition into school. Thanks.

On Tuesday, seven year 5 and 6 children attended a netball festival at Tewkesbury Academy. Games were scored but the aim of the festival was on enjoyment and improvement in game play and understanding. Our children played five matches, losing two, drawing one and winning two. It was a great team effort and Vienna was awarded a School Games wristband for teamwork. Well done to Vienna, Josh, Livvy, Keira N, Hallie, Alex and Leo H.
Please can you all reserve this date in your diary: Wednesday 19th March 2025, 6pm - 7:30pm in the school hall
I have booked PC Williams from Cyber Intelligence, Gloucestershire Police to run an information evening for parents about safe internet use for children which I would like to urge a parent from every family to attend please. The presentation was recently shared with headteachers in Gloucestershire at a conference and it was extremely useful although at times quite hard-hitting! The Cyber Intelligence team will be able to share statistics, information and advice about how you can make your child's internet use as safe as possible. I have decided to hold a creche service in one of the classrooms so that we can support anyone who may not be able to get childcare. I will give you more information nearer the time! (Miss Gladstone)
If your child is registered for and receives the pupil premium or free school meals (this is not the same as universal free school meals, received by all infant aged children), you are now able to book HAF activities through the link below, from the 18th November.
https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/holiday-activities-and-food-programme/

If you are not registered for pupil premium/free school meals and want to see if you are eligible, please click this link www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals/

Please note that ALL school dinner accounts should be in credit at all times. If your child is in year 3 or above you will need to ensure that they have a credit balance loaded onto their account to cover their needs.
The cost of a school dinner is now £2.71.
If you believe your child may be entitled to free school meals, please look at this link www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals/

Many thanks.
There are a lot of coughs and cold about at this time of year, as is often the case, but unless your child is really unwell (see below) we encourage you to still send them in to school. We are able to administer Calpol and antibiotics in school - forms are available from Mrs Bowen in the Office so please call in with any medication and complete one if necessary.
Please click the link below to see NHS guidelines regarding illnesses.

Please remember to report sickness/illness daily to us via School Spider or email to Mrs Bowen on admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk. It is important that illness is reported to school first thing in the morning, otherwise your child's absence could be recorded as an 'unauthorised absence'. If your child is frequently absent due to illness we may ask for a doctors note as per our attendance policy.
Pupils must arrive in school by 8.45am on each school day. The register for the first session will be taken at 9.00am and will be kept open until 9.15am. The register for the second session will be taken at 1.05pm and will be kept open until 1.15pm.

We are noticing that there are a few children who are coming to school with alternative drinks such as squash or juice in their water bottles. Please can I remind you all that our policy is for children to drink water only as part of our healthy schools status.
Can we also remind you that we encourage the following foods as suitable snack choices at break time:
Fruit, vegetables, cheese, cereal bar, fruit bar.
We do remind children not to eat crisps and chocolate at break times where possible.
Thank you so much.

How do I register my child?
