We will be displaying and selling the produce after the assembly to raise money for the Tewkesbury Foodbank, so please come with cash if you can! Due to capacity in the hall, we will need to restrict the number of adults who wish to come to the Harvest Festival assembly. Please only a maximum of 2 adults per family to attend. Many thanks for your understanding.
We are noticing that there are a few children who are coming to school with alternative drinks such as squash or juice in their water bottles. Please can I remind you all that our policy is for children to drink water only as part of our healthy schools status.
Can we also remind you that we encourage the following foods as suitable snack choices at break time:
Fruit, vegetables, cheese, cereal bar, fruit bar.
We do remind children not to eat crisps and chocolate at break times where possible.
Thank you so much.
Yesterday seventeen of our year 4, 5 and 6 children took part in their first race at the Vineyards. All of them ran with determination and resilience and were a credit to the school. Notable performances were Leo H (3rd) and Leo N-S (6th) in the boys race. In the girls race, Lea placed 12th and Isla 14th which is amazing as year 4's in a mixed year 4,5 and 6 race. Well done to all of our runners: Leo H, Leo N-0S, Tom, Leighton, Joe, Oliver, Jesse, Ethan, Zane, Bertie, Lea, Isla, Livvy, Scarlett, Keira R, Eva-Jayne and Bonnie. There is no race next week due to the Mop fair, so the next race will be on Thursday 17th October.

Following a very successful collection of school shoes/bookbags etc over the summer, we are now asking that if anyone has any winter coats, wellies, scarfs, hats & gloves that they are no longer using or have outgrown, please could these be dropped into the collection box by the school office, or place in the collection box at Cedarwood, next door to the school. Many thanks to the Irwin family for coordinating this collection for those less fortunate who may be in need of our help.

PTFA meetings are informal and a good way to get involved. Meetings will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, in school, at 7.30pm.
New committee members are always needed, and if you wish to find out more, get involved, have ideas to help raise funds or would even like to be part of our fabulous PTFA feel free to come along to one of our get-togethers, connect via Facebook or pop along to one of our regular meetings or to the AGM this November 13th in the school hall.
All county libraries are running Halloween costume swaps this Autumn.
The scary truth is an estimated 7 million Halloween costumes are thrown away every year, adding to 2,000 tonnes of plastic waste. That’s the same as 83 million plastic bottles.
Donate a costume to any library between 23 September and 7 October
Swap an old costume for a new one between 7 October and 1 November
You can find lots more ideas here about how to have a sustainable Halloween.
The swap supports our Greener Together initiative, launched in 2021, which explores ways in which libraries can help to mitigate climate change, raise awareness and support individuals and local communities who want to take practical steps towards leading a greener, lower carbon lifestyle.

Please remember to report sickness/illness daily to us via School Spider or email to Mrs Bowen on admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk. It is important that illness is reported to school first thing in the morning, otherwise your child's absence could be recorded as an 'unauthorised absence'.
Please note that ALL school dinner accounts should be in credit at all times. If your child is in year 3 or above you will need to ensure that they have a credit balance loaded onto their account to cover their needs.
The cost of a school dinner is now £2.71.
If you believe your child may be entitled to free school meals, please look at this link www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals/
Menus for this term are now available from the school website - click to download or ask at the office for a printed copy. www.twyningschool.co.uk/page/school-lunches/106163
