Here is this week's news:
Good afternoon all! I hope you have all had a lovely week!
This week, Twyning Playgroup held their sports day on our school field, helped by some of our Year 6 children and Mrs Leggett. Thank you to Mrs Donmez and Mrs Allard for providing refreshments to the families on what was another hot day! All the children seemed to have lots of fun!
On Wednesday, we held our whole school sports day on the Village Green. Well done to everybody - what a great team effort! Thank you so much to all the volunteers who helped make this possible - it really is much appreciated. Ruby house won the Fair Play award with 115 points and Emerald won the Overall Cup with a whopping 405 points!
Don't forget to buy your entries to the Colour Run which will be on Sunday 13th July at TRAC - we are really looking forward to this!
Next week, we have the Leavers Play taking place - tickets are still on sale for this at £1 each from the office. I have heard the rehearsals (!) and I think this is going to be superb.
Finally, please can I remind everybody about Parentpay dinners balances - these MUST be cleared before the year end. These accounts should generally stay in credit but we do have quite a few with small balances outstanding. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Gladstone

HEDGEHOGS and OWLS classes: We have decided NOT to allow pencil cases in class next year. We know that this is controversial for the children and that some children may be disappointed but...unfortunately they are a continuous source of distraction during lessons. Many children also like to lay out a huge array of expensive stationery on their tables each day leaving very limited working space amongst other issues. Thank you for your support with this.
We have a vacancy for a keen enthusiastic person to work in our After School Club, generally after school between 3:15 and 5:15pm from September for a couple of afternoons although there could be more sessions available if required. Training will be given. If you are interested in this opportunity, or would like to come along to an after school club session to see the job in action, please see Miss Gladstone or Mrs Bowen or email head@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk or admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk.
This year, your children's end of year reports will be sent to you via email. The format is very slightly different but contains lots of information about your child's progress and attainment. We are more than happy to print out a paper copy for you if you do not have a printer at home but we will do this the week after they have been emailed. I hope that this email process goes smoothly without a hitch!
If you have a school leaver with any good condition PE kit that you no longer need, we would love to use this! We will have a collection box on the playground on the last day of term for any donations. PE tops, tracksuits, trainers etc all welcomed. Many thanks.
Mrs Leggett.

Please can we remind you to thoroughly sun cream your children before school and send hats, especially on PE days, as we move into summer. Thank you.
Apply online for free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school will still have to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
Back by popular demand, on Thursday 17th July, we are holding "Break the rules" day again! Please see the list of rules below that you are allowed to break, in return for the suggested donations! Children (and staff) loved this last year and we hope they will again!
