This site contains information for students regarding the RN-BSN at Texas Woman's University.
The RN-BSN program allows students who have completed a basic licensure program and are already licensed as registered nurses to complete the BSN.

Students can use the tuition estimator tool to calculate expected costs based on the number of credits taken by semester. Students studying full-time take approximately 12 credit hours per semester.
What are the requirements to enroll in the RN-BSN program?
There are three sets of courses that must be completed for the BSN. Those are listed here.
1. Texas core curriculum. These courses must be completed to graduate. I recommend that you complete that before beginning nursing courses but this is a suggestion, not a requirement.
2. Nursing pre-recs (listed on the website as "additional prerequisites"). These courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C before you can enter the RN-BSN program. These do have to be done before you can be admitted to the program.
3. Nursing major courses. These are all taken once admitted to the program. Students in the RN-BSN program receive 28 credit hours of credit in the program for their previous training and licensure. More on the courses taken in the program here.
In addition to course requirements, students must pass NCLEX-RN and hold an unencumbered license as a registered nurse and as well as pass a drug screen and background check.
How do I apply to the RN-BSN Program?
These steps are also summarized here:
Apply for admission to the College of Nursing RN-BSN program through NursingCAS. This is a separate step from University admission. Students in the last semester of an ADN program should send a transcript upon application and another after graduation
I have finished my basic nursing program but I have not taken NCLEX yet. Can I still apply to the RN-BSN program?
Students who are eligible to take NCLEX-RN but have not tested yet can apply. Students must pass NCLEX and hold a current RN license to remain in the program.
Do applicants to the RN-BSN program need to take the TEAS?
No. The TEAS entrance exam is not required for RN-BSN students.
I am a licensed RN but I did my basic education outside of Texas. Do I still need to take all the Texas core and prerequisite courses?
Yes. All students earning a bachelor's degree in a Texas public institution must complete the Texas core. Additionally, all prerequisite courses for nursing must be satisfied, even if they were not required by your basic nursing program.
Some of my prerequisite courses were taken a long time ago. Do I have to retake them?
There is no limit on the age of prerequisite courses as long as they are equivalent to current prerequisite requirements.
How are the courses structured in this program?
Courses are 100% online and delivered asynchronously, which means that you do not have any scheduled class times. Courses are delivered through our learning management system, Canvas. Students have the flexibility to complete coursework on their own schedule.
Most courses are 7 weeks long, which means that students on a full-time study plan can complete four courses per semester but only take two courses at a time.
What are the clinical compliance requirements for the RN-BSN program?
Students are required to meet all clinical requirements prior to enrollment in any course that has a clinical component. This includes but is not limited to immunization, drug screening, criminal background checks, BLS (CPR) certification, and required trainings.
How are clinical hours completed in a 100% online program?
Clinical is not like it was in your basic nursing program, where you had scheduled hours. Clinical hours are satisfied through the completion of applied projects, often at your own workplace and on your own schedule.
