Members of our SIG are interested in accreditation, assessment, and program evaluation research in educator preparation. We work to support members' efforts to move from compliance to a culture of inquiry. We encourage the accumulation and interpretation of research findings from accreditation reviews, state review processes, and evaluation studies focusing on the competence of graduates of educator preparation programs and the quality of the programs themselves.

Preparing Culturally-responsive Teachers for Equity-Oriented Classrooms: How Do We Evaluate Their Effectiveness and Our Own?
Sat, April 18, 10:35am to 12:05pm | Moscone Center, Floor: West Building, Level Three, Room 3002 | Session Type: Structured Poster Session | http://tinyurl.com/y2c64kx9
In an effort to address inequity issues in education, increasing numbers of colleges of education are committed to designing programs that prepare effective equity-centered teachers for students of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds who have been historically and are currently marginalized. As programs endeavor to prepare critically conscious and reflective teacher candidates who are capable and caring in complex educational arenas, challenges persist in how to collect relevant data which demonstrates candidates’ and/or graduates’ abilities, and which can inform program regeneration. Posters in this session draw on quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches to explore (a) effective equity-centered and/or social justice-oriented teaching and (b) the influence of emphasizing culturally relevant, responsive, and sustaining teaching approaches in educator preparation.
