Vision and values

‘Where being unique is celebrated’.

At The Woodlands School we believe that every child and young person in our care has the right to be understood and achieve their full potential. We are committed to ensuring a positive, safe and stimulating environment, where everyone is valued and where all our children and young people are able to communicate, achieve, enjoy their learning and be as independent as they can be.

Our culture is one where staff and pupils enjoy coming into school to learn. Where communication is valued and all pupils see themselves as learners.  Where all our young people achieve the best they can and can be the person they were born to be.

We are an inclusive and diverse school. All cultures and genders are celebrated and staff feel confident to support everyone in being who they are. We are proud to reflect our modern and diverse city.

Our Staff confidently ensure every young person is safe - no concern is too small. We work together with external partners to get the best for our young people. We have strong relationships with our families for the benefit of our students. Staff and pupils feel protected and safeguarded.

Our curriculum is motivating, ambitious and accessible, taking the wide needs of our children and young people into account. Ensuring all young people are able to reach their destination.

We are ambitious for all our children, young people and staff: we believe we cannot put a ceiling on their achievement.
