Bennie Johnson is a Wildlife Biologist in Northern California. She received her B.S. in Wildlife Science from Virginia Tech in 2011 and her M.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from Clemson University in 2015. Since 2015 she has worked for Collins Pine Company (private timber industry) where she performs biological compliance across 140,000 acres in the northern sierras and southern cascade mountains. Bennie’s experience has largely focused on amphibian communities in managed forests, but she also assists with meadow and aspen restoration projects, works with partners on research projects, helps her company maintain their Forest Stewardship Council certification, and performs a wide range of biological monitoring. Bennie is also active in her local Wildlife Society Chapter where she currently serves as the Chapter President. In her down time, Bennie enjoys traveling and sampling craft beer with her husband and spending time outdoors with her two dogs.
Zach Mills is the district wildlife biologist for Monterey and San Benito Counties with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Prior to arriving to California, Zach’s research focused on large carnivore physiology and behavior in response to extreme climatic conditions. Zach enjoys storytelling and sharing his adventures from the field with public audiences and working with landowners to achieve wildlife management goals.
