Self Introduction
My desire to become a foreign English teacher began early on. I taught as a home-based online English teacher for almost six years. I have handled different levels of students with different learning styles and personalities, from the beginner to the advanced. Dealing with them helps me to practice my teaching profession. I have gained knowledge and learned different techniques on how to deal with students with diverse personalities. I learn to apply different teaching approaches, such as interactive classroom activities. More than that, give extra attention to the student’s background and consider their learning styles. While, of course, there are many ways of teaching language, and each professor has their own particular method or strategy for teaching, what I have found to be most effective is constant practice combined with making learning English fun so as to engage the students' interest in the material.
My ongoing passion for becoming an English teacher, however, soon led me to the firm conviction that I wanted to devote my professional life to becoming an exceptionally good English teacher through gaining new knowledge, learning new strategies, and sharing my expertise with others, especially foreign learners, which is one of my goals in life.
I finished my Bachelor of Secondary Major in English in 2020 from Wesleyan University-Philippines and pursued a Master of Arts in Education Major in English in 2023. My decision to apply to the Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program (TFETP) is based on a careful consideration of my aptitude, interests, and professional ambitions to be a part of your organization. Teaching in a home-based English online class makes me happy. However, I want to go beyond my limit. It is my dream to teach in a foreign country where I will learn about and understand its culture. I also believe that I will grow more professionally if I am exposed to different educational systems. Moreover, I want to pursue higher education, learn more strategic teaching and learning approaches, and, at the same time, share my skills with my future colleagues and students.
I want to be of great help to the institution and contribute something for its betterment. If given a chance, I want to pursue any teaching-related courses that could enhance my knowledge and skills. Furthermore, I want to understand the culture by being part of the community. Exploring the different tourist spots in Taiwan is also part of the list of things I wish to accomplish.
Every student has their own unique talents, skills, challenges, and background. By getting to know my students as individuals, I can help them find the learning styles that work best for them, now and throughout their education.
