Guia Acero Aguilar is a 30-year-old educator from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines. She graduated from Silliman University with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in Biological Sciences. With a strong academic foundation and a passion for learning, she has dedicated her career to shaping young minds and fostering meaningful educational experiences.
She has extensive teaching experience across different educational settings. Guia taught for 2 years in a private junior high school at Immaculate Heart Academy and 3 years in a public school at Pamplona National High School in the Philippines. She then expanded her teaching journey as a Foreign English Teacher at Toucheng Junior High School in Taiwan. Currently, she continues her work in Taiwan as a Foreign English Teacher at Yong Sing Elementary School, where she creates engaging and student-centered lessons for young learners.
Beyond classroom teaching, Guia has taken on various leadership and specialized roles. She served as a Disaster Risk Reduction Mangement Coordinator and Science Coordinator in her assigned school district under the Department of Education in the Philippines. She was also the module writer for 8th Grade Science that was used for the schools under her Division during the pandemic as a means of Alternative means of Learning. During her time in Taiwan, aside from English and International Classes, she taught Marine and Ocean Science and trained students for the Yilan County English Easy Go English Singing Competition. She also advocates for alternative means of education and enjoys enriching her teaching through her hobbies, which include singing, reading, and playing the guitar.
