Hello everyone! I'm glad you're here ♥
Our school is located at Shengang Township. It is a countryside in Changhua County, Taiwan and also near to the wetlands. The wetlands are home to many different types of birds, each which migrate in the seasons, so it is a popular location for birdwatchers to view and record species.
The community comprises open spaces which contain a mix of agricultural fields and significant natural wetlands that provide the rural part a tranquil visual experience of farming and natural beauty. The presence of these wetlands alongside Shengang demonstrate its commitment to protect the ecosystem.
VOCABULARY ENRICHMENT
This section introduces some key vocabulary words. Before the video was created, both teachers and students had the task of recording their own videos to explain the activity. The students were already learning during the process of filming. I'm just really glad to see how participative the students are, even with the language barrier.
ALL ABOUT WINTER CAMP
This section showcases the various activities that the students participated in during the winter camp. We engaged in a range of fun and educational tasks such as drawing, singing, dancing, and playing games. These activities not only helped the students express their creativity and energy but also encouraged teamwork, communication, and cultural exchange in a joyful and relaxed environment.
The first day of Winter Camp was all about introductions and creating a welcoming environment for the students. The day began with an exciting activity where each student learned their English name, a fun and meaningful step that gave them a sense of identity in the camp. After discovering their names, they channeled their creativity into designing personalized nametags. Using colorful markers, stickers, and decorative elements, the students poured their imaginations into making their nametags unique and vibrant, reflecting their personalities. Once the nametags were ready, the students practiced introducing themselves to their classmates with the phrase, “Hi, my name is [Name],” speaking clearly and confidently. This simple yet effective exercise not only helped them build their English-speaking skills but also encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones and connect with others.
The activity created an atmosphere of excitement and curiosity, as students eagerly shared their names and admired each other’s artistic creations. By the end of the day, they had taken an important first step toward building friendships and boosting their confidence in using English in a fun, supportive setting.
On the second day of Winter Camp, the students dived into the fun and lively theme of farm animals. The day began with everyone singing the classic song Old MacDonald Had a Farm, filling the room with cheerful voices and laughter as they mimicked the sounds of cows, chickens, pigs, and other animals. After the song, the students were introduced to the names of various farm animals, expanding their vocabulary in an engaging and interactive way. To make learning even more exciting, they played a guessing game where they had to identify animals based on clues or sounds—a game that sparked plenty of smiles and enthusiasm.
Later, the creative part of the day began as the students' colored pictures of farm animals, carefully choosing their favorite shades to bring the illustrations to life. With their completed animal cutouts, they worked together to build a model farm, arranging barns, fences, and fields to create a vibrant, miniature farm scene. The activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment as they admired their colorful creation. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day, with many excitedly sharing their favorite moments and proudly showing off their artwork. It was a fun-filled day that combined music, learning, and hands-on activities, leaving everyone with happy memories and a deeper understanding of farm animals.
In my English class for grade 1, we incorporate songs and dance as a key part of our lessons. These activities are always a hit with the children, as they bring a sense of excitement and joy into the classroom. The kids love learning catchy tunes and moving along to fun choreography, which instantly brightens their mood and creates a lively atmosphere. Their energy and enthusiasm during these sessions are contagious, making every class a delightful experience.
Beyond the fun, integrating songs and dance into our lessons serves an important purpose in language learning. Music and movement help reinforce vocabulary and phrases, making it easier for young learners to remember and use new words. The rhythm and repetition in songs improve their pronunciation and listening skills, while the accompanying actions give context to the language, aiding comprehension. Additionally, these activities foster creativity and confidence, encouraging even the shyest students to participate and express themselves.
Watching the children engage in these activities is incredibly rewarding. It’s heartwarming to see them singing along, perfecting their moves, and working together as a group. These moments not only strengthen their language skills but also create a sense of community and belonging in the classroom. By combining learning with play, we’re able to build a foundation of positive experiences that will inspire a lifelong love of language and learning.
As a teacher, it’s fulfilling to see the positive impact these activities have on their development, knowing that this fun and interactive approach lays the groundwork for their future success in language learning.
Teaching math to grade 1 students can be quite challenging, as young learners often find abstract concepts like numbers, addition, and subtraction difficult to grasp. However, introducing interactive games into the classroom has been a game-changer. These games turn learning into a fun and engaging activity, capturing the children’s attention and motivating them to participate. By presenting math problems in a playful and visually appealing way, the games make complex ideas more accessible and easier to understand for young minds.
One of the most rewarding aspects of using interactive games is seeing the students’ eagerness to solve problems. Their faces light up with excitement as they compete, collaborate, or work independently to find the right answers. These activities not only reinforce their math skills but also build their confidence and encourage critical thinking. The enthusiasm they bring to these games creates a positive learning environment where challenges are seen as opportunities to grow, making math an enjoyable subject for both students and teachers alike.
In this video, we explore a dynamic co-teaching approach that seamlessly integrates advanced technology into the English language teaching process. Clay Art:
The white part of the crab sculpture was made by students at our school! They used clay to show special things about Shengang, like the wind turbines and birds. This art helps us show the world what makes Shengang special.
Tidal Zone:
The tidal zone in Shengang is where small animals like fiddler crabs, starfish, and hermit crabs live. When the tide goes out, they come out to look for food. This shows us how animals live and survive by the sea.
Birds and Migration:
Shengang has wetlands that are important for birds traveling long distances. In the winter, birds like spoonbills and egrets stop here to rest. This teaches us that Shengang is a special place not only for people but for birds too.
Wind Power:
Shengang has big wind turbines that use the wind to make electricity. This electricity is clean and helps protect the environment. The wind turbines remind us of how important it is to use clean energy to take care of our world.
Oyster Farming:
Many people in Shengang grow oysters in the sea. These oysters help clean the water, and the people of Shengang have been farming oysters for a long time. Oyster farming shows us how people and nature can work together.
Wetlands:
Wetlands don't just help animals; they also protect the land from big waves. The wetlands are important for keeping nature safe and healthy.
This section showcases the Grade 5 students during their reading rehearsals. It highlights their dedication and enthusiasm as they practice reading aloud with confidence and clarity. Through these rehearsals, students work on improving their pronunciation, pacing, and expression. They also learn the value of teamwork and constructive feedback, supporting one another as they prepare for the big event. These moments reflect not only their growth as readers but also their development as effective communicators.
This section highlights Sports Day, a fun and energetic event where students participated in various physical activities and educational games. It was a great opportunity for them to showcase their physical skills, teamwork, and school spirit. The event not only promoted health and fitness but also helped build stronger bonds among classmates through friendly competition and mutual encouragement. Everyone had a wonderful time cheering each other on and celebrating each other's efforts.
This section features a story presentation, an activity where students not only practiced their speaking and comprehension skills but also explored new vocabulary words in context. Through engaging with the story, they were able to reflect on meaningful life lessons embedded in the narrative. It was a great opportunity for them to connect language learning with real-life values, all while building their confidence in using English.
This section features a dynamic and interactive speaking activity designed to boost students’ confidence and fluency in English. Students will be divided into groups and take turns participating in a fun, game-like challenge. Each group will use a ball to hit a numbered target on the board. Every number corresponds to a specific question or prompt.
The difficulty of each question will be tailored to the students' grade level to ensure the activity is both age-appropriate and challenging enough to promote growth. Once a number is hit, all group members must take turns answering the question linked to that number, encouraging equal participation and collaboration.
If the group gives the correct answers or demonstrates thoughtful responses (based on the teacher’s criteria), they will earn a stamp. The goal is to collect 10 stamps. Once a group reaches this goal, they will receive a reward or special incentive.
This activity not only enhances speaking skills, but also fosters teamwork, motivation, and a fun, supportive classroom environment.
This section highlights a fun and interactive way students are learning new vocabulary words at school. A dedicated whiteboard is set up in outside the teachers' office, displaying a collection of vocabulary words alongside corresponding pictures. This visual aid helps students associate words with images, making it easier for them to remember the meaning and spelling.
As part of the activity, students are tasked with matching each word to the correct picture. To reinforce learning, they must write down their answers on a slip of paper—encouraging retention through the act of writing. Once completed, students place their answer slips into a special box.
Before the school’s weekly flag ceremony, all submissions are checked for accuracy by the teacher. During the ceremony, the school director and principal randomly draw names from the box. If the selected student has submitted correct answers, they receive a prize as recognition for their effort and learning.
This activity not only strengthens vocabulary retention but also creates an exciting incentive for students to participate actively in their language learning journey.
