Hello everyone! My name is Joy Shaw and I have been teaching in Union since 1998. I have taught at every level, including elementary, middle, and high school. I am certified to teach regular and special education classes, as I have earned certifications in both areas. I am married to Dave Shaw, the principal at Burnet Middle School, and and have three boys: Patrick (19), Tyler (18), and Ryan (13). They definitely keep me busy! :) I enjoy being outside, bike riding, reading, and listening to music. These pastimes definitely put me at ease!
As your English teacher this year, I only have one goal: to instill a love for learning into each of you! By reading texts with relatable characters and topics, engaging in thought-provoking discussions, and writing in many forms to express your new knowledge, you will ultimately feel and be empowered! Together, we will embark on this journey of life-long learning and build amazing relationships with one another!
