Nursing

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM OUR NURSES

Medication Drop off:

  • You must email or call the school nurse to make an appointment to drop off medication/supplies. No medication will be given without a doctor’s order.

Asthma treatments:

  • Students may use asthma inhalers when necessary. You must provide the nurse with a doctor’s note for the inhaler.

  • Students may not bring inhalers to school and the nurse cannot administer an inhaler to your child unless a doctor’s note for this school year is on file.

  • Due to the potential for airborne particle spread, no asthma nebulizer treatments will be given in school.

  • Students may use asthma inhalers when necessary. Children with flare-ups of respiratory conditions should not be in school during the pandemic.

Pick up of ill children:

  • The TUPS nurses will follow CDC guidelines for when a child should be sent home from school due to illness.

  • Please do not send your child to school if they do not feel well.

  • Please ensure all contact numbers are up to date and someone is available within ½ hour of receiving a call to pick up your child.

  • The nurse’s office will be used for emergency care only.

  • Students suspected of potential illness will be identified in the nurse's office and then placed in a separate area while waiting to be picked up by a parent/guardian.
