It is the mission of the Rio Linda High School Symphonic Band to provide every student with high quality opportunities to become musicians who perform at a high level, create with courage and imagination, listen critically, and honor the role of music in our culture and community.
To this end, we believe that:
-every student has a place in the band. While the band needs kids, there are some kids who need the band.
-the band needs to be a safe place to fail since we often learn the most from our mistakes.
-musicians who play more, play better. When they play better, they play more.
-musicians thrive on exciting performing experiences.
-every musician deserves equal access to a vibrant curriculum that will make them college and career ready.
-studying great literature is integral to fostering a life-long desire to be involved with music.
-the band must be a part of the community and support the goals and expectations of our school and town.
