A great film does not happen by accident. While the author writes a meaningful script, the director who brings it to life on the screen. Directors have their own interpretations of a script, and they make hundreds, even thousands of decisions in order to adapt a play from text to stage to screen. What they hope to create is a film that conveys their vision and the tone of the work
Prepare an 8 – 10 minute presentation that provides context for your scene and compares, contrasts, and justifies the choices each director made when filming their version of Hamlet. After viewing and documenting the director’s choices for your assigned scene in each of the four film versions, you must analyze the texts to compare, contrast, and justify the purpose behind each director’s choices regarding the script and at least three of the other elements listed on your “Comparing Film Adaptations of Hamlet: Graphic Organizer.” Your presentation must include a technology-based visual aid. Your group may choose to show up to 30 seconds of video per director, with purpose (cited with accurate ITPCs). In addition using freeze frames/screen shots of examples from the four films is highly recommended (cited with accurate ITPCs). Be sure to include a Works Cited slide(s) for all four films.
