The AP Environmental Science course is designed to be the equivalent of a one- semester, introductory college course in environmental science, through which students engage with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world. Environmental Science is interdisciplinary, embracing topics from geology, biology, environmental studies, environmental science, chemistry, and geography. LABORATORY REQUIREMENT: Although there are no specific AP Environmental Science labs or field investigations required for the course, it is expected that students perform as many labs/field investigations as possible. All students enrolled in this course are expected to take the Advanced Placement Environmental Science examination. Students who pass the AP exam have the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation’s colleges and universities.
