As part of a county-wide competition, students will design, prototype, and test an invention. Two teams will go on to present their inventions at the county-wide competition at the BCIU in November. See the PA Invention Convention website for more information.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of "maker" activities, including green screen video creation, LittleBits circuits, Makey Makey, 3D design, and cardboard creation. There may also be the opportunity for "functional" maker activities around the library. (For example, last year, students helped paint the front of the circulation desk in chalkboard paint).
Students will have an opportunity to deconstruct old technology (computers, stereos, appliances, etc). Emphasis will be on discovering the components that make it work, making inferences as to how it works, and re-purposing components into a new form.
