Fall Semester Courses:
Spring Semester Courses:
The course schedule has not yet been determined. Students will be working more independently in the IEC, mainstream, or in a job shadow situation to complete needed credits for graduation.
Materials Required for each Core Class
Assessments
Students will be formally assessed at the end of each chapter in each core subject. Students may also have unannounced quizzes or projects assigned.
Grading
Students are required to meet proficiencies in each content area scoring a 3 or higher. Formal grades will not be given. Students will be given copies of the proficiencies they must meet in each area, and will be given time to meet them if they are not successful on the first attempt.
Proficiencies are earned and are never just given. Students receive proficiencies when work is completed and turned in. Students in my class always have the opportunity to “fix” something for a better proficiency score or retake a test. An incomplete is given when work has not been turned in and is therefore missing. Students are expected to complete this missing work to meet proficiency.
Expectations When Absences Occur
Students are expected to come to school every day. Students may not miss more than 10 days of school per school year. In the event your child is very sick and cannot attend school, they are expected to make up any work they have missed. Students are expected to come and see me and the other teachers they will be having to get the assignments they are missing and complete them.
Lisa and I are available to help students while they are completing their assignments during the day.
Strategies for Success
Students will be successful in all of my classes when they show up prepared, ready to learn, and have a positive attitude. Completing assignments and staying caught up is the most important thing they can do. Studying for tests will really help maintain good grades.
