My name is Gabrielė. For the past 8 years I have been working for animals in Lithuania. I have co-founded "Tušti narvai" – the first animal rights organization in Lithuania – and have been leading it from the very beginning. For me, banning the fur industry has become the most important thing in life. My identity is attached to this goal to the point of it being unhealthy but guess what, it’s a hell of a motivator.
Anyway, I believe that it's better to let the results speak for me. In this website you can already see what was done with the fur ECI in Lithuania. We have also put the fur farming ban on the agenda of the Parliament last year and the first reading passed with 78 MPs voting for, 9 voting against and 28 abstaining.
Other than that, we have worked on stopping the sales of live fish and freeing hens from cages in Lithuania. Because of what "Tušti narvai" did, 300,000 fish are no longer sold alive each year and about 500,000 hens are out of cages.
