Beginning in the 2015/16 school year Tuslaw Local Schools opened a new “hands on” Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) lab for our district. The STEM lab, or what we call the Mod.Tech. lab, can be found in the middle school, using part of the space that once housed the wood shop.
The focus for our STEM lab is to provide an environment where students can design, build, conduct experiments, and perform simulations. In this lab we are not focused on teaching the mastery of any one discipline. Instead we facilitate a space where students practice collaboration, problem solving, as well as apply ideas and skills learned in other classes.
Currently students in grades 6-12 use our lab.
