The dates for Progress Reports will be available online according to the TUSD school year calendar at www.tusd.org. Please contact your student’s teacher with any questions.
Progress reports can be accessed on a mobile device. However, the PowerSchool app does not have a link to ECollect Forms. You can use the Internet browser on your phone to access the full site.
TUSD provides parents information about their child’s progress in many ways. The two official communication pieces are the formal Achievement Report (given twice per year), which is part of your child’s permanent record, and a Progress Report (given 3 times per year in advance of the more formal Achievement Report). The Progress Report gives you important information about your child’s progress towards proficiency on essential California Common Core State Standards. It is given before the end of the grading period so you can support your child with any needed improvement before the issuance of the Achievement Report.
If your child is having difficulty, the Progress Report serves as your notification that he/she may be at risk of not meeting grade level expectations by the end of the school year. This will give you sufficient time to support your child’s improvement with at risk skills before the end of the grading period.
Based on evidence from work at school, if a particular skill is marked on the Progress Report, it is an area in which your child will benefit from extra support. We will, of course, be working with your child in these areas at school, however, most students really benefit from supportive review and repetition in the home setting in order to become proficient at a skill.
The Progress Report provides a current “snapshot” of progress to date. If a skill is not marked, this indicates that there is not a concern about this skill at this time of the year. This can (and often does) change as expectations and assessments increase in difficulty over the course of the year. The Progress Report is one important tool in understanding and supporting your child’s progress. Please refer to the Progress Report Glossary to better understand your child’s Progress Report.
