Orthography is the conventional spelling system of a language. In the past, people have written Tuscarora many different ways. Our standardized modern writing system—the way you will see it written throughout the lessons on this website—was developed by linguist Blair Rudes-kęheˀ in the 1990s. Once the Tuscarora dictionary was completed in 1999, the Tuscarora School began to change the writing system to this current orthography.
