Welcome to my Counselor’s corner!
My name is Dorie Edwards, and I am starting my 17th year in education but my 9th year as a school counselor. This is my second year being the counselor at Verner Elementary, however, I am not new to Verner. Before I became a school counselor, I was a 3rd and 5th grade teacher at Verner Elementary. In between that, I was a counselor at another school in our district, and it feels so good to be back at Verner.
I wanted to create a place for my students and their parents to access necessary resources, as well as fun activities and lessons. I am always here to support you and your child.
Feel free to contact me anytime at dfedwards@tusc.k12.al.us.

Verner Elementary School Counseling Program Beliefs
Each and every student has worth and dignity. The school counselor advocates for all students because they all matter.
Effective school counseling is a collaborative process involving school counselors, students, families, teachers, administrators, other school staff and education stakeholders.
Every student should have access to a school counseling program.
Every student should have access to an opportunity for a high-quality education.
All students should be treated with respect no matter their race, ethnicity, culture, gender, religion, etc.
Every student can learn and every student can succeed.
