After an enormously successful pilot program at Central Elementary, we are happy to share that we have expanded the Bookworm program into 7 of our 12 elementary schools this year! We are now partnering with 41 PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grade classes across the district and reaching over 600 students. The purpose of Bookworm is to promote literacy and help students develop a love for reading. Each month, a community member will visit classrooms to share a read aloud.  During the read aloud,  our bookworm will help students build vocabulary, explore new topics, and make real-world connections. After the read aloud, the community partner will give each student a copy of the book to take home and add to their personal library.
