The Eagle Edition is the online news-blog publication of Tuscaloosa Magnet Middle School, created by Catharine Li as part of her 8th grade MYP "Passion Project". Serving as a readily available and reliable source of information tailored to the student community, it is incredibly important in today's digital age to create a platform that will encourage discussion, collaboration, communication, and creativity in a respectful, thoughtful matter.
Journalism is a craft within itself. It requires an intuitive eye for detail to illuminate perspective into a larger, human view. The sheer importance of self-expression creates positive change within the community.
As the foundation for where valuable life skills can be developed, students learn how to tell a story, learning the dangers of slander and misinformation, not only building discovery of each other, but a new level of connectedness.
There are currently 25+ staff members on the newspaper, comprised of students in the 6th and 8th grade, each contributing their unique ideas for topic to cover, from news concerning the Magnet, opinionated writing, various sports topics, video broadcasts, meetings, and much much more.
