What's happening in the qualifiers?

The Women's World Cup is in a couple of months, and although that sounds like a long time, the truth is that it’s nothing compared to the four-year wait for one of the biggest sports gatherings in the world. The eighth edition of the FIFA World Cup in 2019 will be held in France from June 7 to July 7, 2019. During that time the world will be united by the equal passion for the sport, and for many countries, soccer plays a critical role in connecting their people and culture. This doesn't mean the fun hasn’t started! The teams first have to play each other to qualify in the world cup. In fact, most of their games have been happening very recently, and the best is yet to come.
Let’s talk about the UEFA or Union of European Football Associations. The UEFA is a tournament held in Europe to see which four teams will be able to play in the world cup. There are seven groups in the UEFA tournament, group A, B, C, and so on. In those groups, teams are ranked based on matches played, wins, deuces, and losses. Now if they have the same wins and losses, they will use their goal difference to determine who is ranked above the others. As of March 23, 2018, the rankings for these groups were Group A, England with 22 points, Group B, Scotland with 21 points, Group C, Norway with 21 points, Group D, Sweden with 21 points, Group E Germany with 21 points, Group F, Italy with 21 points, and Group G, Spain with 24 points. Many games are coming up that could very well change those standings.
Moving on to the CONCACAF or Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football. Currently, there is only one group and the top-ranked team in Jamaica with only 12 points. This is only because there have not been many games, but by the time this is published many other teams would have played, including the USA who would have played at least three games. For this tournament, the most crucial part of it is yet to come.
These two tournaments are some of the most important tournaments that are happening for the world cup, although not yet mentioned is the AFC, the CAF, the CONMEBOL, and the OFC. Those tournaments are set up in the same way as the tournament noted previously in the article. The Women’s World Cup is coming, and it’s coming fast. Make sure to be immersed in the culture to really get the full experience that only comes once every four years.
