Every month TMSM’s student council plans and hosts a fun activity for the school community to enjoy. On October 31, a Halloween Fall Festival was held in the gym, filled with plenty of activities, music, and of course, food for everyone. Kendall Williams, eighth grader and Student Council President had the opportunity to plan the event. “I had the idea because I knew everyone was bored of the regular fall festival and always wanted a second school dance. I really wanted to switch it up this year, and I’m glad everyone’s enjoying it.” But it wasn’t just a dance. There were also fun games and activities where students could earn prizes and compete against their friends, including balloon pop racing, a cake walk, face painting station. soda toss, cornhole, limbo, and a guessing game in which you had to guess how much candy was in a bag.
“My favorite part is the games,” said Madison Mills, a seventh grader. There were also plenty of snacks and refreshments including Kool Aid juice boxes, a variety of chips, cookies, and the classic, Halloween candy. “The grape fruit-punch is to die for.” noted Veronica Robinson, an 8th grader, as she hurriedly raced to find her friends. As the afternoon was finding a close, everyone could be seen, getting down to a little cupid shuffle. Spontaneous dance battles ruled the floor, all thanks to Ms. Brown’s amazing DJ skills, Michael Jackson and Billy Joel tunes served as a little throw back for everyone, as lyrics from Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody could be heard belted out from every corner of the room. Juiced with plenty of sugar, smiles were seen on faces all around, putting an end to a wonderfully planned event.
