A family-owned restaurant known as Babe’s Doughnuts Co. is newly opened on Greensboro Avenue in Downtown Tuscaloosa. Based in Bryan, Texas, primarily as a doughnut shop, Babe’s also serves breakfast and brunch until 1:30 p.m. With rustic brick walls, warm pendant lights, wooden tables with matching stools, and plants on every table, it generates a cozy, modern, and earthy atmosphere. Being a first-time customer, I had no idea which doughnuts to try, and the lady working at the register gave me some great recommendations. The serving staff is very friendly and patient with customers and families that aren't sure what they want.
When you visit early on a weekday, you can find a line of groggy customers in line waiting to get their fix of morning coffee. Along with coffee and breakfast sandwiches, Babe’s Doughnuts also presents you with a variety of new, fun, and innovative flavors among which I ordered like Blueberry Cake, M&M, Apple Fritter, Nutella, and Cookie Monster’s face. They also have seasonal offerings such as candied blood oranges and King Cakes during Mardis Gras. These are just a few of the flavors I tried, and all of them tasted amazing, although just a tad bit sweet for my liking. If you go to Babe’s, I suggest getting a cup of milk along with your meal.
