Learning at Home: The TCS Way! is a distance learning plan to continue our students' learning while they are at home. This plan was built on the same core of equity that the TCS has and will always embrace and was designed using feedback from school leaders. It relies on parents, students, and teachers working collaboratively to support learning at home.

In order to assist parents who may have children in multiple grade bands, teachers at each grade level are encouraged to schedule any live, or synchronous, activities during the times listed below.

  • Elementary Schools 8:00-10:30
  • Middle Schools 10:30-1:00
  • High Schools 1:00-3:30

Other activities, particularly those that are asynchronous in nature, may occur at any time during the regular school day.

The World Health Organization has put together information about Parenting during the time of COVID-19 that can be used as a resource with helping to plan out routines for children during this extended time away from school.

The first line of communication for parents is the classroom teacher and the school leaders.

Tuscaloosa Reads is bringing the library home. Through book giveaways at feeding sites, read-al-ouds, support with digital resources, and more this initiative is bridging the digital divide between the bookshelf and the home learner. Your school librarians will be curating, creating, and cultivating reading resources to keep students of all ages engaged!

TCS has worked hard to provide one device per household where a device is needed. Unfortunately, we cannot provide more than one device per home or provide devices to homes where there is a working, family owned device that can be used.

If a student is having issues with their Chromebook email Mr. Summerford, but please understand the Technology Department is limited in what they can do at this time. There is currently no way to collect and repair devices while ensuring the health/safety of families, technology coaches, and technicians. It is perfectly acceptable for students to use home devices to complete assignments.
