Day 10- 9/04/15 Oregon Dunes and Shore Acres State Park
Today we drove south on the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway from Yachats to Port Orford, our "headquarters" for the next 5 nights.
The shoreline changed quickly from a rocky coastline to a long stretch of beaches and sand dunes and then back to rugged rock.
We stopped briefly at the Oregon Dunes Overlook and then continued on to see the huge dunes at Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. In addition to being a beautiful area it is a haven for ATV's, dune buggies and the like.

Our next stop was Shore Acres State Park. Perched on a scenic bluff high above the Pacific, Shore Acres began as a private estate with luxurious gardens featuring trees, shrubs, and flowering plants brought from around the world aboard the sailing ships of lumberman and shipbuilder Louis J. Simpson. The original mansion is gone, but the restored formal gardens continue to attract thousands of visitors. The offshore rocks here provide a spectacular view.
