Day 6- 8/31/15 Continuing south on the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway
After breakfast and saying goodbye to our wonderful hosts at the Awtrey House we headed south again stopping along the way to enjoy the spectacular scenery. Our first stop was at Boiler Bay where gray whales are often spotted.

We took the Otter Crest Scenic Loop to Cape Foulweather. The lookout is 500 feet above the sea and offers panoramic views of rocky cliffs. Captain James Cook named the promontory in 1778 on a day of particularly inclement weather. Winds can reach 100 mph during storms.

Devils Punchbowl is an intriguing basalt formation with fascinating wave action.
We arrived at the Overleaf Lodge and Spa in Yachats (pronounced Ya Hots) where we will be staying for four nights. It is a 50 room lodge overlooking the ocean where we watched a pretty sunset before retiring for the evening.
