Day 1 - (9/7/21) - Travel to Harpswell Maine

We skipped our September road trip last year out of an abundance of caution.  Covid squashed a lot of things, but we decided it was time for a maritime adventure and headed to the unique and rugged coastline of Harpswell, Maine.

Harpswell is a chain of stretched-out peninsulas and islands with only two roads connecting to the mainland.  The two main peninsulas at their very tips are only a mile apart—yet driving between them takes somewhere around 45 minutes.  We are ready to explore the harbors, coves, oyster farms, fish shacks on stilts, candy shops, lobstering outfits, and walking paths.

Our home base for the next nine nights is located just south of Lookout Point on an 8-acre oceanfront estate that family members just started renting out.  It has expansive ocean views, private beach, walking trails, cliff views, a deep-water dock, and even a freshwater swimming pond.

After unloading the car and settling in a bit, we took a walk to check out the property and then headed out for our first seafood dinner!
