Earn College Credits in High School
Start College Now allows students who have completed 10th grade, are in good academic standing, are not habitual truants, and who satisfy other specific criteria to apply to attend a technical college for the purpose of taking one or more college courses. Notice of intent to attend a technical college must be made by March 1 if the student intends to enroll in the fall semester and by October 1 if the student intends to enroll in the spring semester. Notice of intent is done by submitting the application to the high school guidance counselor. Students receive dual credits for the college classes they pass.
Prior planning is required to take SCN courses. Students interested in this opportunity should contact the guidance office as soon as possible.

Please note the cost of these college courses is paid by the school provided the student passes the course. If a student fails a SCN course, the student or their parents/guardians will be responsible for reimbursing the school for the cost of the course.
For more information, please visit the WI Technical College System website or the BTC SCN Checklist.
High school students in grades 9-12 are able to apply to take courses at any UW System institution, any Wisconsin Private College and any tribal college in Wisconsin. To be considered for ECCP, students in 9th grade must have taken Algebra I in middle school and provide a recommendation letter from a school official. Students in grades 10-12 must have a 2.0 GPA or better in high school. All students must display a level of responsibility and maturity needed to succeed in a college-level course. Successful completion of these courses may earn the student high school credit, post-secondary credit, or both. College courses taken by high school students become part of the student’s permanent university record and may affect subsequent admission to post-secondary institutions.
