Turner High School offers college level curriculum to provide all students with an academic rigor to be college and career ready. This programming allows students to save time and money and also equips them to have a competitive college application if they choose a collegiate path.Students should contact their high school counselor to find out more about these opportunities.

Youth Apprenticeship
Youth Apprenticeship
Students in 11th and 12th grade making adequate progress toward graduation are encouraged to pursue and participate in the youth apprenticeship program. The goal of this program is to integrate school and work-based learning. As part of this program, students apply for jobs at companies in the industry of their choice.Students then work a minimum of 450 hours with the company and gain proficiency in the required skills of that position. There is also a requirement that students complete related coursework either at Turner or through dual credit opportunities while completing their youth apprenticeship. Students participating in endorsed youth apprenticeships are eligible for work release time from school and earn 0.5 credit per semester providing they complete the program requirements. As it does require some prior planning to start a youth apprenticeship, students interested in this opportunity should contact the guidance office as soon as possible to begin planning for the youth apprenticeship.For more information, please visit the DWD Youth Apprentice website or contact Brianne Allbee.

- Education/Training Agreement (ETA)-- All parties sign for every YA student enrolled in the program
- Student Registration Form-- Complete and submit a registration form to DWD no later than 30 days after the student is hired by the employer
- New Worksites-- If a YA student changes worksites, sign and file a new ETA with the school and new employer. Notify DWD in writing of the worksite change.
- As early as JUNE after sophomore year for a Level Two or as late as JUNE after Junior year
- As early as JUNE after junior year for a Level One senior year or as late as FALL of the senior year
Service Learning
Service Learning
Service learning is students working with a person employed by the School District of Beloit Turner during the school day. These opportunities are encouraged if the student has an intense interest or is considering a related field. Service learning will earn .25 credit per semester. Students will be allowed to devote one (1) class to service learning provided the student is meeting behavioral expectations and is making adequate progress toward graduation.

Work Study
Students wishing to take work study should be enrolled in Education for Employment and complete the requirements outlined by the instructor.
Education for Employment Course Description:
This course will include the following units: Lifestyles and careers, career decision making, getting to know yourself researching careers, planning for success, finding and applying for a job, you, your employer, and your coworkers, and staying healthy and safe. Speakers will be included from a variety of occupations. Job shadowing will be done in the student’s interest area.
