Discussion with Mentors
After we all knew our mentors we had our first session with the mentors. My group first planned to develop the central idea, lines of inquiry, related concepts, etc. After that, we introduced our topic to our mentors.
Meeting the Experts
Ms Kiki started painting in 2003. Ms Kiki gave helped me answered the questions I have prepared. Although she mostly tells about acrylic painting, she was still happy to help!
Ms Nancy thought us on how to make a collage. She also gave me some tips on what glue to use to make a collage
Ms Christine explained some things about collage, how to make it, its challenges, examples of it etc. Ms. Christine works in a museum called Museum Macan. She graduated from an art school and learns about art, the history, etc
Parents Session
Our group, "The Six Masterminds" made a presentation slides. In the slides, we introduced our self, our topics, issue, actions, etc. After we are done finalizing it all the day has come for us to present it to the parents. First we all needed to go to the hall so Ms. Rachel and Ms. Lenny can give more information about it. After that we all go to our given room. The six masterminds was in 6D. I was feeling nervous because I thought I was going to make a mistake but in the end it was fun!
Campaign
After I finished my campaign slides I asked my mentors to make sure that it was okay so I can finally campaign to the students and teachers. Then I started campaigning to other classes so people know about my topic and they can help me do what I need them to do. At the end of my presentation, I needed them to take a picture of themselves doing good actions for the environment. and print it using used paper if possible
After I collected the pictures from the offline students student, I started sticking them on the good side then I find the pictures that are on G drive for some people who don't have access to printer and help them print it out using used paper. For the bad side I still have to find some pictures from google about the environmental issues. That is why in this picture the bad actions is not yet done. But in the end I managed to fill it all.
When I was doing my gallery walk I saw that some people understood the meaning of my collage and the message I was sharing so I think my action was a success. Another reason is that after my campaign they helped by participating in my collage activity by taking a picture of themselves/nature and giving it to me so I could stick them onto my collage.
I used my communication skills by listening to my mentors, presenting to other students and speaking.
In thinking skills I used acquisition of knowledge,
I also used self-management skills for me to manage my time although maybe sometimes I don’t but I still did my best to manage my time. Fine motor skills because while doing my collage I did some cutting and sticking.
Research skills because I had to research some pictures and some real issues, facts about my topic.
Social skills I had to cooperate with my friends and other people while accepting responsibility for my actions
I am a communicator because I am able to communicate well with my friends and other people when I did a campaign and all my actions for my PYPx
I am balanced because I knew when to do my PYPx project and also found some time to relax for a while.
I am an inquirer because during the mentors meetings, I kept on asking questions and for advice from my mentors.
I am open-minded because I accept inputs and suggestions from my team-mates and mentors.
I am a risk-taker because I was actually shy but I took the risk to be braver.
I am reflective because I can think about my mistakes and re-do things so I can improve.
I am a thinker because I have to think about what to do for PYPx, how to do it, etc.
In the future if I have to do this again I will have to improve my time management, be more confident/brave, be more prepared for my work, be more creative while doing my booth (more meaningful), and do more research.
I learned a lot from my PYPx. While doing it I also improved some of my skills such as my research skills, communication skills, thinkings skills, etc. I personally wasn’t really satisfied with the end results. Maybe because I didn’t really manage my time as well as I could have. But I still appreciate my work and it still looks amazing. This is one of the biggest experiences so far because I have never done this before but I think it can help me to prepare better in the future. Honestly it was kind of fun while talking to people while doing my gallery walk. :D
