Welcome to Kindergarten! I am so glad you are here!
Welcome To Kindergarten!
Thank you for sharing your child with me this year. Please know I love to hear from you. If there is something that is helpful for me to know about your child, please call or email. Below you will find important details about procedures and routines for you and your child this year in Kindergarten. Our class is the Kinder Bee Class.
1. A.C.T Days (Academic Collaboration Time) occurs each Friday. Class is dismissed at 2:20 on Fridays. We come out at 3:30 on Monday through Thursday.
2. Daily Take Home Folder: Each child will receive a Daily Folder that will come with him/her to school EVERYDAY! If you have a note for me, or the office, be sure it is in the folder. I will check folders at the start of each day. I will be looking for returned homework, notes from home, book orders, breakfast/lunch money, etc. I expect families to review what is brought home in the folder every night. Please empty your child’s folder daily. The folder system is a very effective way of communicating between school and home. If you put a note in your child’s backpack, I most likely will not see the note, however, if the note is in your child’s folder, I will see it at the beginning of class!
3. Transportation Notes: If you ever have a change in your child’s transportation for the day, you MUST call the school office (709-7150) If the office does not receive a call/note, your child will be sent home as usual. (Transportation notes go in the folder)
4. Homework: I do send some schoolwork for you to do with your child at home. In doing work with your child, it demonstrates to them that you care about school and that school is important! Most homework sent home is connected with the Read Well Literacy Curriculum. You may also receive extra practice to help your child in an area that he/she may be struggling. We also send some family special projects occasionally.
6. Sick Child: Sick means any kind of illness involving the following: fever of 100 degrees or more, unidentified rash, constant cough, yucky nose or if your child is not acting/feeling well. If your child shows any of these symptoms, please keep him/her home so they can get better and not share their illnesses with their classmates. (your child must be fever free for 24 hours prior to returning to school)
7. Change of Clothes: Please be sure your child has plastic bag with a change of clothes in their backpack.
8. Snack/show and tell: Please send snack on your child’s assigned day or before if it is more convenient for you. Your child’s snack day is also their helper and show and tell day. Show and tell should be one item that fits in your child’s back pack. They love being the class helper!
10. Birthday Celebrations: Please help your child fill out the special person poster I will send home. We love to see photos and hear about your child.
11. Water Bottle: Please send a water bottle to school with your child. We will refill them through the week. Your child should bring it home on Fridays to be washed and return it on Monday.
12. To contact me: send a note in your child’s folder, or email me at laura.roberts@tumwater.k12.wa.us . You can also call the EOE office at 709.7150, or call my voicemail directly at 360-709.7175. (*If you are calling to notify me of a transportation change for your child, always call the office as my classroom number does not ring during school hours, and I may not receive your message in time… ALWAYS CALL THE OFFICE FOR TRANSPORTATION or IMMEDIATE ISSUES!!
Reading: Try to read to/with your child everyday. 20 minutes minimum.
Big Hugs, Mrs. Roberts
Please be sure you have extra clothes in your child's back pack. It is a muddy time of year!
