Creative Word Projects

Our first big project for the year will be what I call the "Creative Word Project". During conference time, I spoke to the students, guiding them to think of a single word that resonates with them, and could be used to describe them. During the month of September, students need to work at home to create something that shows their chosen word, and how that word relates to them.

For example, my word was, DETERMINED. I chose to do a mixed-media poster showcasing my word on the horse show ribbon. I used paint, paper, paint pens, stamps, photos and fabric to create a poster that shows how I set goals and work to achieve them because I am DETERMINED.

Please encourage your child to create something high-quality and artistic or creative; after all, they will have nearly a month, so I expect them to take their time and produce something quality. They may opt to make a poster like my example, or perhaps they will make a sculpture, beadwork, a painting, a t-shirt, a sewing project....the possibilities are truly endless! I can't wait to see what word and creative project your child chooses!

While they are working on these at home, meanwhile at school we will be working on some public speaking skills so that they will have the confidence to present their projects in front of the class in October.
