Garrett Baldwin
Head Coach | Athletic Performance | Quarterbacks

Education - Bachelor of Arts, Organizational Leadership |  Brandman University, 2021

Coach Baldwin was born and raised in the Tumwater/Olympia area, where he attended Michael T. Simmons, Tumwater Middle School, and Black Hills High School. While at Black Hills, Coach Baldwin participated in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track, and Soccer from 2006-09. Coach Baldwin was selected to become a member of the National Society of High School Scholars his senior year. He also earned 1st Team All-League Defensive Back Honors as a senior, and went on to play Cornerback for Whitworth University.

Coach Baldwin honorably served in United States Air Force before exiting the military to continue his education. While in pursuit of his bachelors degree, Baldwin was an assistant coach at River Ridge High School under Steve Schultz for three years.

Coach Weller grew up in Puyallup, Wa. He has been an assistant football coach for 6 years and also previously coached soccer for 4 years. Coach Weller brings a selfless attitude out to the field and is always looking to help the program however he can. Coach Weller assists with Defensive Line and Receivers, while calling the defense for junior varsity. The Weller family loves to travel during the off-season. Did you know that Coach Weller is a 2-time state champion wrestler? Coach became a state champion in both the freestyle and the Greco Roman discipline.

Cody Franzen, MD, CAQ-SM

Primary Care (Non-Surgical) Sports Medicine.

Originally from the south sound area. Attended Western Washington University, graduating with a Bachelors in Exercise and Health Science in 2006. Cody then went to Ross University School of Medicine for medical school and graduated in 2013. He completed his residency at St. Peter Hospital in 2016 and then moved to Rhode Island where he completed his Sports medicine fellowship at Brown University. Finally, in 2017, Cody was able to return home to the south sound and work at Providence Lacey Sports Medicine. "It’s an honor and privilege to also be able to collaborate with the coaches and Athletic Trainer, Kailynn Arnold serving the student athletes of BHHS," said Dr. Franzen. 

When not practicing sports medicine, Cody enjoys camping, fishing, shooting/hunting and of course spending time with his wife and young daughter. 


Kailynn Arnold, MS, LAT, ATC

Kailynn is our Certified Athletic Trainer at Black Hills High School, and she not only helps our young men on the football team, but all student-athletes for all sports here at BHHS. Kailynn graduated from Eastern Washington University with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and then graduated with her Master of Science from West Texas A&M University. Kailynn has been an ATC since 2011, working with student-athletes at the collegiate level, private school & public-school level. Prior to coming to BHHS, Kailynn worked at IMG Academy in Florida and Steilacoom High School. When she is not spending (most of) her time at BHHS, Kailynn loves spending her free time with her husband and their dog, Sage, who sometimes tags along at practices. She also enjoys spending time on the soccer field and watching all genres of movies!"
