This event is meant to introduce middle school students to STEM career options, STEM professional mentors, and hands-on skills these professionals use every day in their jobs! Thanks to our generous funders and dedicated volunteers, we’ll be distributing kits with all the materials needed to explore a variety of different STEM careers. The activities provided are all linked to the top five industries in Oklahoma: Aerospace, Agriculture, Energy, Healthcare, and Information Technology.
Classrooms, homeschool groups, and afterschool programs are invited to join us as we ignite students’ passions for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Kits are organized as teacher packs with classroom sets of 5 different STEM in a Bag activities.
Register by Sept. 10, and kits will be delivered to schools by October 15. Registration is limited due to delivery demand and the number of kits available. Priority will be given to schools in the Tulsa metro area.
Do I have to have a "kit"? No, you don't! The activities are designed to utilize materials found around the home or easily source at the grocery store!
How do I participate? Anyone is welcome to participate in whatever capacity they can and all materials/resources are FREE! We're distributing a select number of kits through the form linked above, but you may be able to participate without receiving a kit. We have activities to get you started thinking about STEM, activities related to the top 5 industries in Oklahoma, interviews with STEM professionals, reflection activities, and a post-event survey. See the menu at the top.
How has this event changed? Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TRSA has taken all our programs to a virtual platform. This means that rather than visiting the Fair Grounds and exploring STEM careers with local professionals, we're handing out kits with all the materials needed to learn about five different professions.
