  • What is the purpose of JROTC? The purpose of JROTC is to prepare High School students for responsible leadership roles.

  • What is the mission of JROTC? JROTC's mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens. That's it.

  • How does JROTC help me graduate? JROTC counts for credits needed for graduation - it takes the place of Physical Education (PE) so you get PE credit by being in JROTC - and afterwards it counts for the many Elective credits you need to graduate.

  • What is the class like? JROTC is a leadership class that offers fun extra-curricular activities such as field trips, as well as physical training (PT) and team learning projects that challenge you mentally and physically.

  • What is taught in class? The material covered varies every year, but includes: leadership training, basics of citizenship, U.S. Military History, first aid, human relations, communication, drill and ceremony, military / topographic map reading, etc.

  • Is there an obligation to go into the Armed Services after high school? Absolutely not. That is not the JROTC mission. Choosing to serve in our nation's armed forces is something between a student, parent/guardian and a recruiter - not JROTC. All cadets benefit from the teamwork & leadership skills and structure in JROTC but most do not join the military. However, if you do decide you want to serve in the military, your years in JROTC will earn you extra rank and pay.

  • Do I have to buy the uniform? Absolutely not, they are issued to cadets free of charge.

  • Can I be in other activities or sports? Yes of course. We have had cadets in the band, robotics, all sports, etc.

  • What does JROTC stand for? Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps

  • How long has JROTC existed? Since the passing of the 1916 National Defense Act by Congress, so for over 100 years.
