March 9th-13th

Objectives: Geography and history of Southwest Asia as well as their culture today. Assess student mastery of Vocabulary of Southwest Asia, aka “The Middle East”.

Monday: Assess whether Iran, Lebanon and Qatar are developed or developing.

Tuesday: The Kurdish question—a people without a nation in the Middle East.

Wednesday: Vocabulary Quiz for Chapter 9, Southwest Asia.

Thursday: Complete and turn in Timeline of Southwest Asia.

Friday: Spring Break begins!


February 17th-20th:

Objectives: Assess student mastery of Vocabulary of Russia, Central Asia, Caucasus. Assign new vocabulary for region of Southwest Asia, aka “The Middle East”.


Monday: President’s Day, no school.

Tuesday: Professional Day, no school.

Wednesday: The Eurasia Continental Divide—the Urals.

Thursday: Verbal assessment of student mastery of Ch. 7&8 Vocabulary of Russia, Central Asia, Caucasus--Quiz!

Friday: Vocabulary of Southwest Asia, aka “The Middle East” (Chapter 9).


February 24th-28th

Objectives: Map the region of Southwest Asia and its major physical features, climates and natural resources. Student understanding of cause/effect of major events in SW Asia’s history. Visual overviews of culture and historical events in regional history.


Monday: Students will create a full page, colored representation of SW Asia complete with physical features labeled. Each nation will be listed with its climate and natural resources.

Tuesday: Continue working on Map.

Wednesday: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman—Developed or Developing?

Thursday: Pages 270-277 of the text provides What happened, Why, Where and When for 24 important events of the history of SW Asia.

Friday: Continue Timeline.


March 2nd-6th

Objectives: Geography and history of Southwest Asia as well as their culture today.


Monday: Compare & Contrast desert seas of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf (aka Arabian Sea).

Tuesday: Complete and turn in Map of Southwest Asia.

Wednesday: Istanbul vs. Constantinople and the founder of modern day Turkey—Mustafa Kamal Ataturk.

Thursday: History of Arab-Israeli conflicts.

Friday: Israel and Palestine today.
