The FAFSA is the “Free Application for Federal Student Aid.” Federal student aid, a part of the U.S. Department of Education, is the largest provider of student aid in the nation. Filling out the FAFSA allows students to be eligible for federal grants, loans, and work study grants.
In addition, the state of Texas will soon require completion of the application in order to graduate high school AND 90% of institutional scholarships require the application in order to accurately and fairly disperse scholarship funds. Even if you do not believe you qualify for federal student aid, completing this application will ensure your future financial security and success.
The Google Slide presentation to the left provides a step-by-step overview of completing the FAFSA. (Note: click on the "pop-out" icon to enlarge the document or save the document to your computer.)
