If you have a district issued hotspot and are unable to connect reliably. Please follow these troubleshooting steps:
Try using the hotspot with your chromebook outside your house. Walls and windows degrade signal strenth and using the device outside will give you a baseline of what quality of connection you can expect.
Once connected outside, go to www.speedtest.net on your chromebook and hit the Go button in the center of the screen.
Take a screenshot of the results by pressing [ctrl] + [Screen Share] (Screen Share is the key above the 6. It is a square followed by two vertical lines).
You may want to repeat steps 2 and 3 for the front yard/back yard as you may get different results based on cell tower locations.
Run similar tests in different areas of your home. The living room, bedrooms and kitchen. You may find that you can work in the living room, but not your bedroom or visa versa.
TIP: You do not have to have the hotspot next to your chromebook. The hotspot may get the best signal strenthon a shelf up high and you could still connect to it from a table nearby. Don't be afraid to experiment.
If the device is not working in any locations, does anyone in the house have a smartphone that works? If so what is the service provider of that device.
If you have tried all these steps, please relay this information to the school so we can come up with an alternate solution for you.
