Mahelat Alamerew

Past Projects

Mahelat has completed the Intro to Biotech and Advanced Biomedical Science classes and is now moving onto iBAR. She has also done internships with UW and Fred Hutch that consisted of making infographics, research posters, and slides. The information she presented was about her projects that she has worked on with post docs from these organizations.

Current Projects

Currently, Mahelat wants to expand on her Transcription Motif/Factors in Yeast project that she started in her previous internships. She hopes to add more information to the underrepresented study.

Personal

Outside of school, Mahelat focuses her time on her sports (volleyball and tennis) for the majority of time out of school. Mahelat is a Seattle-born student that moved to Tukwila as a kindergartner and hopes to create a change in the STEM field.

Publications

Mahelat created a poster with two postdocs at Fred Hutch about transcription factors in quiescent yeast. Her poster gives an introduction to Quiescence and how it affects organisms, specifically yeast. She plans on expanding the project to find more answers.
