All children eat with their teachers in their classrooms or just outside. We eat for fifteen minutes at the end of playtime. This has been effective settling children back into learning mode after physical activity. It has also reduced behaviour incidents.
We are one of Taranaki's Kura Waiora – Health Promoting School and only healthy food options should be in lunch boxes. Children who have eaten healthy food at school, appear to be more alert and ready for learning throughout the day. Treat foods can be had at home.
High sugar food and drinks, e.g. fizzy and lollies or chocolates, will be removed and returned after school. Water is the drink of choice.
