As another school year comes to a close, summer is finally here! Whether your plans include traveling, spending time with friends and family, working a summer job, playing sports, relaxing at home, or simply enjoying a well-deserved break, we hope you take time to enjoy everything the season has to offer.

We also encourage you to make reading part of your summer.

Reading during the summer is one of the easiest ways to keep your mind active while school is out. Just a few minutes each day can help you maintain the skills you've worked so hard to build throughout the year. More importantly, reading can introduce you to new ideas, new perspectives, and unforgettable characters. A great book can make you laugh, challenge the way you think, or transport you to places you've never been.

The best part is that summer reading doesn't have to feel like schoolwork. Choose books that genuinely interest you. Explore a new genre, pick up a bestseller, revisit a favorite author, or read about a topic you've always wanted to learn more about. The goal is not just to read—it is to enjoy reading.

This summer, we ask that you read at least two books. Whether you read on a beach, in a hammock, on a road trip, or curled up on the couch, we hope you discover stories and ideas that stay with you long after the final page.

Please feel free to use this website as a guide for your summer reading.  On this website, you will find book reccomendations by genres but also by some of your favorite teachers (and administrators).  You will also find information on a reading contest that is being hosted by both the English Department and Library.

Unless specified by your teacher, all students are to read a minimum of two(2) books over the summer.

Have a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. We look forward to hearing about the books you read when we welcome you back in the fall.

Happy Reading!
