Mentor Texts:
In each Unit we use a mentor text to teach us about the kind of writing we are doing. We revisit this many times throughout the unit. Sometimes we read it all the way through and other times we read specific parts to teach a skill during Writing Workshop.
My Editing Checklist
We use this checklist throughout the Unit to edit our writing. The goal of editing is not to make it perfect. Instead, our goal is to make it easy for the reader to read our writing. It is important that children become self-aware of their writing errors and make corrections when they understand why it is important.
