Tips for finding a Writing Workspace

  1. Comfortable- Can they sit down, lay down, or move around?

  2. Flexible- Can you pack this space and go?

  3. Calm- Is it a place where you can't hear the TV or people on their phone? Or where you hear calming music?

  4. Predictable- The same writing place allows students to take risks in their writing because they feel safe and comfortable.

Answering the Question "How do you spell..."

Keep an alphabet chart close by so your child can use.

  1. Be an independent problem solver.

Say the word, say the word slowly. write what you hear.

  1. Work on it together

Say the word like a robot, then write something for each sound.

  1. Show them how to spell it (but not all the time!)

What other words can we learn from this one?
